Sister Dipankara Spring 2007 Miami Retreat

A ten-day meditation retreat led by Sister Dipankara, a major disciple of Ven Pa Auk Sayadaw in Southern Burma, will be held in Miami, Florida.
What: This retreat will focus on the development of strong and powerful concentration (i.e. jhanas) as the foundation for the deep Vipassana practice that Sayadaw teaches when the meditator is sufficiently concentrated.

Sister Dipankara teaches Samatha and Vipassanà meditation based on the Tipitaka and its commentaries, notably the Visuddhimagga. Beginning with ànàpànasati and four- elements meditation, the teaching is organized into the 3 trainings of sila, samadhi and panna, further refined into the seven stages of purification. With sila as foundation, strong samadhi is developed to discern ultimate materiality and mentality, and the workings of dependent origination. In Vipassanà, through the systematic discerning of the five aggregates as impermanent, suffering and non-self, progress is made through the insight knowledge while purifying the mind of defilements, to attain Nibbana.
